Envy Photo 7930 printer

问题描述

I bought a new HP Envy Photo 7930 printer from HP in March 2026, to replace a 7830 model which I had for six years but was becoming mechanically noisey. I am having difficulty printing .pdf documents, especially ones downloaded from the internet: the 7930 printer just pumps out several pages (as much as 😎 with one or two lines of numbers, letters and wingdings on each page. To stop it I have to turn off the printer. Am I missing some software or is the 7930 not capable of printing .pdf or docx. documents? I never had this problem with my old Envy 7830 printer.

Grateful for any assistance you can offer.

Regards, Jim.

Hi @Jimh19,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

HP Envy Photo 7930 printer is absolutely capable of printing PDFs and DOCX files. This issue happens when your computer’s driver misinterprets the file data. It ends up sending “raw” file code to the printer instead of a readable image, causing it to print endless pages of random characters.

The following steps will solve the problem:

1. Clear the Printer Queue Immediately:

Before troubleshooting, you need to stop the printer from continuously pumping out pages:

  • Cancel Jobs: Turn the printer off, disconnect the USB cable (or disconnect from Wi-Fi), turn the printer back on, and clear any active print jobs waiting in your computer’s print queue.

2. Print as an Image from Adobe:

Since web-downloaded PDFs can have unusual formatting or corrupt fonts, try forcing your PDF software to process the document as a flat picture:

  • Open the PDF using Adobe Acrobat Reader.

  • Click File > Print, then click the Advanced button (usually near the bottom left of the print menu).

  • Check the box that says Print As Image.

  • Click OK and print. This bypasses any font/file conflicts.

3. Update or Reinstall the Printer Driver:

Because your old 7830 settings might be conflicting with the new printer on your computer, resetting the connection is highly effective:

  • Disconnect the printer from the PC.

  • Go to your computer’s Control Panel > Devices and Printers, right-click your Envy Photo 7930, and select Remove Device.

  • Download and install the latest drivers directly from Official HP® Support. This ensures Windows uses the correct language profile for your specific machine.

4. Adjust the PDF/Web Printing Method:

If the document is a PDF viewed in a web browser, try these alternate fixes:

  • Save, Don’t Print from Web: Download the PDF or DOCX file to your desktop first rather than printing directly from your web browser. Open the downloaded file using your desktop app (e.g., MS Word or Adobe) and print from there.

  • Switch Browsers: If you are using Microsoft Edge or Chrome, try printing from a different web browser, as built-in PDF viewers can occasionally send garbled print data.

I hope this will help.

Take care and have a good day.

Hi Jerry_57

Many thanks for your help and please accept my apologies for the delay in replying but I have been away for a few days.

I am not experienced with modern computing and don’t know how to use Acrobat Reader to convert files. However, I discovered that if I download files into my ‘downloads’ folder then they will print from there.

Never had this problem with my old HP 7830 printer; wish I had never got rid of it! Unfortunately, after 6 years of use, the 7830 (which I believe has been discontinued)  had started getting noisy so I bought the 7930 which was a big mistake. It is much slower and does not even have a USB slot.

Kind regards,

Jimh19
